Shri Shatrughan Prasad Sinha is an Indian actor-turned-politician and also a member of Parliament and Lok Sabha from Asansol constituency and a present member of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). Sinha was born on 15th July 1946 in Patna Bihar and is the Youngest of Four brothers. He graduated from Patna Science College with a Bachelor of Science and also completed a Diploma in Acting from the Film and Television Institute of India Pune. Shatrughan entered politics by contesting opposite Rajesh Khanna. In 2009, Shatrughan Sinha won the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha Constituency in Bihar during the 2009 Indian general elections by defeating Shekhar Suman.

Sinha began his Political Career by Joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wherein he became a cabinet minister in the Third Vajpayee Ministry from the 13th Lok Sabha holding 2 Portfolios one from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and another Department of Shipping. However, he changed his party in the year 2019 and joined the Indian National Congress. In March 2022, Shatrughan Prasad joined the All India Trinamool Congress to contest the By-election for the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. In the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Shatrughan Sinha won from the Asansol seat, he defeated BJP’s Surendrajit Singh Ahluwalia. He represents the Asansol seat in West Bengal and is the final winning candidate to take the oath.
