Ashok Tanwar is a very successful Indian politician from the Haryana state and he has worked as the President of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee. He is a member of Parliament from Sirsa, and Secretary, of the All India Congress Committee. The early life of this politician started in Chimni, Jhajjar district, Haryana, where he was born on 12 February 1976. He belongs to a Chamar family of farmers where his father Dilbag Singh is head of the family and Krishna Rathi is the housemaker of the family.

He has completed his B.A from the Kakatiya University, Warangal. After that, Ashok Tanwar also went to the Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Centre to obtain a degree in Historical Studies and an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. (Medieval Indian History). He was the youngest member of the Indian Youth Congress to be elected president. In the presence of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, he rejoined the Indian National Congress on October 3, 2024.

The political journey of Ashok Tanwar started in the year of 1999 when he became an active member of the NSUI at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). During this time, he was a contestant in the JNU election and became NSUI’s secretary in 1999 and its president in 2003. Just five years later, he appeared as a contestant in the Lok Sabha elections as a member of Congress from the Sisra, Haryana constituency and won by 354,999 votes. In the year 2014, Ashok Tanwar became the president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee.

Although, On October 5, 2019, Tanwar resigned from the Indian National Congress. Ashok Tanwar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on January 20, 2024, at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. He was defeated by Indian National Congress candidate Kumari Selja by almost 250,000 votes in the 2024 Indian General Election, where he ran from Sirsa. But on the date of October 3, 2024, he re-joined the congress party which can be a shock for everyone.
