Giriraj Singh is a well-known senior Indian politician from Bihar and has served as the 21st Minister of Textiles since 2024. Generally, he represents the Begusarai constituency as a Member of the Parliament (MP). On the other hand, he is a very active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His early life started in the Barahiya town (Lakhisarai district of Bihar) where he was born on 8 September 1952. He was born into the Bhumihar family to Ramavtar Singh and Tara Devi. The political journey of Giriraj Singh started in the year of 2002 when he was elected to the Bihar Legislative Council. He has working on this same till May 2014 and got as position of Cooperative Minister for the Government of Bihar from 2008 to 2010. Later, he was also appointed as a Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resource Development from 2010 to 2013. To get more attention in the political field he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and became MP from Nawada Constituency (2014 Indian General Election). Shri Giriraj Singh was appointed cabinet minister of the newly established Ministry of Fisheries, Dairy, and Animal Husbandry in May 2019. He was appointed Minister of Panchayati Raj and Minister of Rural Development in July 2021.
