Mohan Charan Majhi, Teacher, politician, and current CM of Odisha state was born to a lower middle-class family in the Santal Tribal community in 1972. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha (Bhartiya Janta Party) and won the state assembly election by defeating Biju Janta Dal after 24 years. Mohan Charan’s father worked as a security guard while Mohan completed his schooling at Jhumpura government high school. After schooling, Mohan was moved to Chandra Sekhar College, Champua to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree. He continued to study and finished his LLB from Dhenkanal Law College.

Shri Mohan Charan started teaching as Guruji at Saraswati Shishu Mandir of Jhampura. He joined BJP as he was working with Sharashwati Shishu Mandir which is associated with the RSS. Majhi contested in the local body election of Raikala and was elected as the Sarpunch in 1997. BJP introduced him as the candidate of the Keonjhar constituency of the state assembly in the 2000 assembly election. Mohan Charan won the contest and joined the state assembly. He contested from the same state assembly in 2004, 2009, 2014 & 2019. He lost the election in 2009 and 2014 election. BJP won the state assembly election with a majority in 2024 and Mohan Charan was introduced as the Chief Minister of the state preceding Naveen Patnaik, the longest-serving chief minister of the state.
