Ram Nath Thakur is a famous politician and MP of the Rajya Sabha from Bihar, serving as the Minister of State of India in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, was born on 3 March 1950 in Karpoori Gram, Samastipur district, Bihar. He pursued his intermediate education at G.K.P. College, Samastipur, affiliated with L.N.M. University, Darbhanga, Bihar, in 1995.  He belongs to a political family in Bihar. His father is the former Bihar Chief Minister “Shri Karpoori Thakur”. Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Modi government.

Thakur has made a huge contribution to social movements led by prominent leaders such as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, and his father, Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur. His political career began by becoming a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1988. Shri Ramnath Thakur held several positions such as Minister of Sugarcane Industries in Lalu Prasad’s first cabinet and also was Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms, Law, Information and Public Relations in the Second Nitish Kumar ministry from November 2005 to November 2010.
