Pabitra Margherita, a famous politician and Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, serving as the Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles was born on 13 October 1974 in Margherita, Assam. He did schooling at Assam Government school. Young Pabitra graduated from Margherita College and earned his master’s at Jagannath Barooah College. He also gets the Diploma in Textile Technology from Assam Textile Institute. Pabitra Margherita has also worked in television as a versatile figure, serving as a writer, producer, and anchor for compelling shows.

He produced more than 20 short films and documentaries, and more than 100 folk and contemporary songs. Pabitra even appeared in feature films as an actor, including ‘Mon Jai.’ He joined politics in 2014 and became an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected as the Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Assam on 31 March 2022. He served as a Member of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas from Sept. 2022 – June 2024.
