Atishi Marlena Singh, an Indian politician and member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, serving as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi, was born on 8 June 1981 in Delhi India. She is associated with Aam Aadmi Party. Atishi’s father is Delhi University professor Vijay Singh and his mother is Tripta Wahi. Atishi belongs to a family of Rajput Punjab background. She was brought up in Delhi and did her schooling at Springdales School, Pusa Road, New Delhi. She completed her graduation history from Saint Stephen College Delhi in 2001.

Marlena went to Oxford University and earned the degree of Masters in History in 2003 on a Chevening Scholarship. Atishi went to Magdalen College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. She is also engaged in the Movement of Aam Aadmi Party formulation. In January 2013 she became involved in the policy foundation of the Aam Aadmi Party. Atishi is also engaged in Jal Satyagraha in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh 2015. There she provided support to the UP leader and activist, Alok Agarwal. After the 2020 election, she was made the AAP’s in-charge for its Goa unit.

CM Atishi contested his first election in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. She was also appointed as the Lok Sabha in-charge for East Delhi. Atishi Marlena contested from the east Delhi Lok Sabha constituency as a party candidate for the 2000 Lok Sabha election and lost to the BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir. In 2020, she fought the first Legislative Assembly Election of Delhi from the Kalkaji constituency of South Delhi. She wants to Dharmveer Singh Bhartiya Janata Party candidate and become the MLA from the Kalkaji constituency. Atishi was also leading the flagship Mohalla Sabha project for the Delhi government. One of the major promises of the AAP before coming to power was that governance would be decentralized to empower every citizen.

Atishi currently holds significant responsibilities within the Delhi government and serves as the cabinet minister of 14 key portfolios including Education, Public Works Department (PWD), Tourism, Culture, and Power. She was appointed as the 8th chief minister of Delhi on 17th September 2024 in a meeting of Aam Admi Party MLAs at the residence of Arvind Kejriwal.
