Bhajan Lal Sharma, an Indian Politician & Businessman, has been serving as the 14th and current chief minister of Rajasthan since December 2023. He is also a 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly member, representing the Sanganer constituency.  Bhajan Lal Sharma was born on 15 December 1966 in  Atari village near Nadbai, Rajasthan, India into a Hindu Brahmin family. His father was Kishan Swaroop Sharma, a farmer, and his mother, Gomati Devi. He did his primary education in the Atari and Gagwana villages and moved to Nadbai for secondary education. Bhajan Lal completed his BA from MSJ College in Bharatpur in 1989 and his MA in Political Science from the University of Rajasthan in 1993. He also pursued a B.Ed degree.

The political journey of Bhajan Lala Sharma started with joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his school days through its student wing, the ABVP. After that, he also participated in  ABVP’s Kashmir Bachao Andolan march to Srinagar amid the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus and was arrested in Udhampur in 1990. He was also arrested in the movement of Ramjanm Bhumi. Seeing his passion for politics, he later went on to become the president of the ABVP in Nadbai and the district co-convener in Bharatpur. Sharma joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in earlier 1990 and served as its district president thrice. He also elects as the sarpanch of his native village at the age of 27.

After getting success in regional politics, Bhajan Lal Sharma held the position of district president for the BJP in Bharatpur. He also served as the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan, from 2014 to 2016, and later as the General Secretary from 2016 to 2023. He first contested the 2003 Assembly election from the Nadbai Assembly constituency in Bharatpur on the Rajasthan Samajik Nyay Manch (RSNM) ticket but was defeated. He again contested in the 2023 Assembly election and was elected as an MLA from the Sanganer Assembly constituency and appointed as the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan on 12 December 2023.
