Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi is an Indian Politician and the founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha, currently serving as Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises of India under the Modi 3.0 government. He was born on 6th October 1944 in Mahakar Village. His mother and father were farm laborers from the Musahar Community. He was tutored by an upper caste teacher and later completed his graduation from Magadh University. Jitanram Manjhi entered Politics in 1980 by Joining the Indian National Congress and winning the assembly elections from the Fatehpur segment in Gaya district.
Throughout his political journey, he has been part of many political parties Like the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Janata Dal (United). In the Year 2015, he was expelled from RJD, and in the same year May 2015, he founded his new political party Hindustani Awam March (HAM). Later, contested the next assembly election in Bihar.

Manjhi defeated RJD candidate Kumar Sarvjeet. His Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) is a constituent of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He was the third leader from the Scheduled Caste community to become Bihar’s Chief Minister, after Bhola Paswan Shastri and Ram Sunder Das.
