Jitin Prasada is a well-known Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh and served as the cabinet minister of the government of Uttar Pradesh on 26 September 2021. He is a former minister of the state for the Human Resource Department, government of India. His early life started in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh where he was born on 29 November 1973. Jitin belongs to a political background family because his father Prasada was a politician too. He went to the boys’ boarding school and Doon School in Dehradun. For higher education, he has pursued a degree in commerce from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.

Later completed his MBA from International Management Institute, New Delhi. His grandfather, Jyoti Prasad, was a member of the Congress party and held roles in municipal and legislative bodies. Pamela Prasada, his grandmother, was a member of the Kapurthala Sikh family. His great-grandmother Purnima Devi was the youngest daughter of Hemendranath Tagore, the brother of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, and his great-grandfather Jwala Prasada served in the Imperial Civil Service.

Shri Jitin Prasada entered into politics in the year 2001 when he was elected to the Indian Youth Congress as a general secretary. Later he got his victor in the election and was appointed as a member of the Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha from his hometown constituency of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was a younger cabinet minister and also contested the election from Dhaurara. During this political journey, Jitin Prasada worked on many huge plans. He worked on the Meter gauge railway track of the district Lakhimpur Kheri converted to Broad gauge.

Jitin was a member of the Committee on Petitions, the Committee on Information Technology and Communications, the Consultative Committee, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Steel for the 14th Lok Sabha. Before 2021, he was named Congress’s In-Charge for West Bengal. On June 9, 2021, Prasad became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
