Kanhaiya Kumar is an Indian Political Activist born on 13th January 1987 in the village of Bihat near Baruni in Begusarai District, Bihar. He served as the president of the Jawaharlal University Students Union and the leader of the All India Student Federation (AISF). He also served as a National Executive Council Member of the Communist Party of India. In the year 2021, Kanhaiya Kumar officially joined the Indian National Congress and was Appointed as the AICC in charge of the National Students.

Later, he joined the AISF (All India Students Federation), and a year later was selected as a delegate at its conference in Patna, Union of India. His father is Jaishankar Singh who is paralysed and his mother, Meena Devi is an Anganwadi worker in Bihar.

Shri Kanhaiya Kumar’s political journey began while he was still Studying in College, He began getting involved in student politics. Kanahiya Kumar is widely known due to his speech with slogans for Azadi at Jawaharlal Nehru University which was raised by him and other students at multiple student protests against policies of the Government. He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Begusarai on the Communist Party and lost the election to Giriraj Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2024, Kanahiya Kumar lost the North East Delhi Loksabha election against Manoj Tiwari by a huge margin.
