Shri M.B. Rajesh was born in Jalandhar, Punjab on 12 March 1971 as the eldest son of Balakrishnan Nair and M. K. Remani. He served as the State Minister for Local Self-Governments and Excise of Kerala, since 2022 and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, since 2024. Rajesh previously served as the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 2021 to 2022. He is a former Member of Parliament from the Palakkad constituency from 2009 to 2019. Currently, MB Rajesh is serving as Minister for Excise of Kerala and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs since 2024.

Rajesh started his political life as a school student by organizing the SFI at the school level. Later he became the President and then-Secretary of SFI (Students’ Federation of India) of the Kerala State Committee. Advocate MB Rajesh also held positions including the Joint Secretary and Vice President of the SFI Central Committee. After his student life, he was active in the DYFI where he became the National President. Rajesh is now a member of the Kerala State Committee of CPI(M).
Shri M B Rajesh is the current lawmaker from Thrithala legislative constituency in Palakkad district. During his tenure in Lok Sabha during 2009-2014, Rajesh proved his caliber as a parliamentarian. M B Rajesh did his graduation in Law from the University of Kerala and an MA in Economics from the NSS College, Ottapalam. Then he served as a Lawyer and a journalist before joining politics. He was the chief editor of the Malayalam Monthly ‘Yuvadhara’. As a minister, he also takes a lot of interest in social causes as he recently inaugurated the Suchitwa Mission’s campaign to improve the cleanliness standards of public toilets in the State.
