Rajesh Ranjan aka Pappu Yadav is a well-known Indian politician from Bihar. He is a member of the Parliament (MP) and represents the Purnia constituency in Bihar. He was born on 24 December 1967 in a landowning family in Khurda Karveli village (Kumarkhand block), Madhepura district, Bihar.

Mandal University, Madhepura, and a diploma in disaster management and human rights from IGNOU. He later ran for office under the SP and RJD flags after winning his first election as an independent. In 2015, Pappu Yadav founded the Jan Adhikar Party, however, it did not significantly affect the vote share.

So, Pappu Yadav started his political journey when he won the election for the Singheshwar constituency in the 1990 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Just after one year, he won the Indian general election for the Purnia Lok Sabha constituency with a significant margin, solidifying his influence in the Kosi region. Pappu Yadav was found guilty of murder in 2008 and given a life sentence, which barred him from running in subsequent elections.

Now he decided to make the greatest comeback in the political field and was continuously elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991, 1996, 1999, 2004, 2014, and 2024, representing various constituencies in Bihar independently.
