In the 2009 General elections, Joshi again won by second-highest margin among 28 constituencies in Karnataka which is one the biggest political achievements of his life. With a margin of more than one lakh votes, he won the Dharwad seat for a second term in 2019. He was then named Minister of legislative affairs, Minister of Coal, and Minister of Mines in Modi’s cabinet.
