Pushkar Singh Dhami, the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand State was born in the small Tundi village of Pithoragarh District of Uttarakhand in 1975. He finished his primary schooling at the government primary school in the village. His father was in the Army and his family moved to the Bhabar Area of the Khatima District of Uttar Pradesh before separation. He completed his higher schooling and graduated with an LLB from Lucknow University, UP. His father was retired from the Indian Army as a Subedar.

Young Pushker started politics as a member of the Youth wing of Bhartiya Janta Party, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in his college days. He came near to the higher politician of the BJP and at the time of the separation of Uttarakhand state, Purhker Dhami was appointed as the advisor to Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the first CM of Uttarakhand State. His activeness in the ground level of politics in the Kumaon and Bhabar regions of the state he was introduced as the candidate of the state legislative assembly election in 2012. He won the election and joined the 3rd state legislative assembly of the state.
