Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar, a famous Indian politician and ex-chief Minister of Maharashtra, serving as SG Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, was born on 12 December 1940 in Baramati of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar of one of 11 children born to Govindarao Pawar and Shraddha Bal Pawar. Govindrao had a long tenure in the Baramati Farmers Co-operative Society, Sahakari Kharedi Sellers Union. He studied till 10th SSC Maharashtra Board from Maharashtra Education Society High School Baramati. Sharad Pawar married Pratibha, who is the daughter of the test cricket, Sadashiv Shinde.

Later, Sharad Pawar became the President of the Pune District Youth Congress in 1962. In 1964 he was one of the two secretaries of the Maharashtra Youth Congress. At the very young age of 27, Pawar was nominated as the candidate for the Baramati constituency of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1967. He won the election to represent the constancy from 1967 to 1991. Sharad Pawar was the 6th chief minister of Maharashtra. He served as the Chief Minister of Maharatha three times from 18 July 1978 to 17 February 1980, the second time he was appointed as the chief minister from 26 June 1988 to 25 June 1991 and last he served from 6 March 1993 to 14 March 1995. He represented the Baramati Constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Sharad Pawar has also served as the 9th Union Minister of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution from 22 May 2004 to 19 January 2011. Pawar was the 28th Union Minister of Agriculture from 23 May 2004 to 26 May 2014. On 8 February 2024, Sharad Pawar became president of the nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar). He served as a Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha since 3 April 2014 by representing the Maharashtra constituency.
