Sushmita Dev is a well-known female politician serving as a member of the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal. As a member of the All India Trinamool Congress, she was also appointed to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India from Silchar. She was born on 25 September 1972 in Silchar, Assam, India. Sushmita Dev belongs to a strong political background family because he is the daughter of the experienced Congress leader Santosh Mohan Dev and her mother is Bithika Dev, a legislator of Silchar of Assam assembly.

For the education, Sushmita Dev has completed the B.A.(Hons.) from Miranda House, Bar-at-Law, and an LLB (Corporate and Commercial Laws) from the University of Delhi. The political journey of Sushmita Dev started when she was elected as the Chairperson of the Silchar Municipal Board. In the year of 2014 when she was appointed as a Member of the Committee on Empowerment of Women and the Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests. Then two years later, Sushmita became a member of the Joint Committee on the Enforcement of Security Interest and Recovery of Debts Laws and Miscellaneous Provision (Amendment) Bill.

Moreover, she has also been appointed as a Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly. Even she contested the 16th Lok Sabha Elections in 2014 and won it by defeating Congress candidate Kabindra Purkayastha. At present, Smt.
